ABT/DTL/game

How long have you used Eley cartridges?

I have used Eley cartridges for the past 5 years and have been sponsored for 4 years.

Favourite load(s) and why:

My favourite Eley cartridge is the VIP trap in 28g 7.5, I’ve stuck with these as they are a very quick cartridge but also hold a tight pattern for the long-range shots. They are smooth and low on recoil which is good for when I’m away shooting for several days at a time.

What do you love most about Eley cartridges?:

My favourite part about Eley cartridges is the consistency, every cartridge is exactly the same which plays a large part in shooting to a high standard.

Gun(s) used:

Beretta 692 X-Trap 32”

Greatest shooting achievement:

My greatest achievement to date is representing England 3 times in one year for 3 different disciplines, this was my 3rd England Cap for ABT, my first England Cap for OTR and my first England Cap for DTL, this was the same year I captained the England junior team at the Home International. To date, I have now represented England 6 times across 3 different disciplines.

Competitions won in last five years:

In the last 5 years, my major wins have been the DTL European Colt champion, English Open DTL and ABT junior champion. ABT Home international junior high gun. North region ABT champion. British ABT, DTL junior and Colt Champion.

In the last five years, I’ve also won many other national titles and county championships.

Favourite ground/shoot:

Spennymoor And District clay pigeon club due to their support and providing great training facilities with challenging targets.

Most valuable tips:

Don’t be afraid to mix things up trying new things such as different disciplines and different cartridges until you find the one’s you prefer and have confidence in.

How long have you used Eley cartridges?

I have used Eley cartridges for just over 6 years now and they have never missed a beat.

Favourite load(s) and why:

My favourite load must be the Eley Vip Traps. They are extremely smooth and hard-hitting shells which give me full confidence in any target I come across whilst shooting.

What do you love most about Eley cartridges?:

I love Eley cartridges because of the consistency I get with kills and they are so smooth through my gun of choice which is a Miroku MK3800.

Gun(s) used:

Miroku MK3800 TR-1.

Greatest shooting achievement:

2022 DTL Overall European Champion.

Competitions won in last five years:

2019 Representing England juniors as the team captain.

2019 High gun over the 3 England selection shoots.

2022 Overall and U21 European champion DTL

Favourite ground/shoot:

Normanton Shooting ground in Leicestershire.

Most valuable tips:

To go out shooting and enjoy it, don’t worry if you didn’t shoot as well as you can because there is always next time.

Always be safe whilst out shooting.

Find the right coach for you, I recommend Mick Marlow of Normanton Shooting Ground for DTL. Without him, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve the things I have.

DTL

How long have you used Eley cartridges?

I have been using Eley cartridges now for 7 years. I joined the team in 2017 and have been using Eley products ever since.

Favourite load(s) and why:

My favourite load is DTL Golds 7.5 28g. I would have experienced recurring shoulder problems when using standard clay cartridges over the years, but when I moved to Eley cartridges, I experienced very low recoil without the speed being jeopardised with the DTL Golds.

What do you love most about Eley cartridges?:

What I love most about Eley cartridges is that prior to stepping out to compete I have full confidence in my product. I never have to worry about a misfire or doubt that this cartridge won’t perform during all weather conditions. I have familiarised myself with the pattern and speed of the cartridge.

Gun(s) used:

I used a Kreighoff 12 gauge over/under shotgun. Fixed choke.

Greatest shooting achievement:

I have been very fortunate in the past but the one that probably stands out is being the first Irish lady in history to shoot a 100/300 in DTL.

Competitions won in last five years:

European ladies DTL champion

Second time winning the British ladies' DTL Title

3 Day High Gun in Class A English Open Weekend

Lady winner of Eley sponsored Day at Bywell

Ulster Open Ladies title x2

Irish Open ladies' champion

Irish Open A class champion

Irish close lady champion X2

Mackintosh Trophy winning ladies' Team

Favourite ground/shoot:

My favourite shooting ground would be Esker, Ireland, but my favourite shooting competition would be the English Open weekend which takes place in Bywell, England.

Most valuable tips:

The most valuable tip that I would give would be preparation. Prior to competition day double check your kitbag, I usually have two of everything. Arrive at the ground in sufficient time to get organised with parking to identify which is the starting layout etc. Prior to starting the competition, take time to help limit the distractions around you before you step up to compete, this will help you gain a competitive mindset.

Discipline/Quarry:

ABT, UT, and OT mainly. But shoot all Clay Disciplines for fun! Game shooting, it’s either Driven Pheasant or Partridge

How long have you used Eley cartridges?

I have been with Eley since 2002, so just over 21 years now!

Favourite load(s) and why:

All of the loads are great, but my stand-out favourites include the Superb in both the 24 and 28-gram versions for ANY Clay Shooting. There is the right shot size, load, and wad option in the range to cover most target challenges! For Game Shooting it has to be either the Grand Prix or the Zenith, again all bases are covered for the majority of shoots!

What do you love most about Eley cartridges?:

Eley cartridges have a steeped heritage in British Shooting, top quality performing products that are heralded the world over and perform at all levels of shooting. With the emphasis also on looking at the next generation of ammunition with the Eco Wad and other developments!

Gun(s) used:

Beretta DT10 or DT11 depending on the game.

Greatest shooting achievement:

All my England and Great Britain caps! They have given me such a great depth of knowledge of competing and the opportunity to travel to places all over the world!

Competitions won in last five years:

Most notable for me was the English Open ABT in 2021, coming out of COVID with little competition training to win this after a shoot-off meant a lot!

Favourite ground/shoot:

Too many! But to list a few:-

Park Farm Shooting Ground

East Yorkshire Clay Shooting Ground

Fauxdegla Premier Shooting Ground

All of them throw excellent targets!

Most valuable tips:

Find a coach who works for you and be detailed in your analysis of your own performance. Once you get the basics nailed down, you’re looking for the missing 0.5% in all the supplementary areas. If you investigate all these your game will come on leaps and bounds as all the 0.5%’s start to add up!
